Nuclear safety culture has been one of the most important aspects for safe and reliable operations of nuclear power plants worldwide.

Promoting nuclear safety culture has been a very important task for Japanese nuclear operators since 2007, when it was introduced into the Safety Regulations.

CEPCO has positively promoted safety culture. Although TEPCO also promoted safety culture, the Fukushima accident occurred in March 2011. The official investigation reports on the accident pointed out that one cause of accident could be safety culture problems. Therefore we should seriously consider effectiveness of safety culture promoting activities which we worked on.

This study presents issues and appropriate improvements for the safety culture promoting activities reflecting the Fukushima accident and our experiences in this five years.
